Hello Adam, stay where you are, you’re missing nothing here. I worked in Auckland 99-2000, had a great time, couldn’t really fault it. Although, I did get tired of hearing how great the Allblacks were all the time, and the Blackcaps, and Blacksocks (hockey I think), yeah really quite annoying as I recall. But other than that, the place has everything so long as you can get a living.

Are you permanent? If so how?

Contrary to popular belief, Arborists are not on the Long Term Skills Shortage List, so what’s the story mate?

Been living n auckland for the last 4 years and now wouldnt really consider moving back home to the uk.Reading all the threads about vosa, weight restrictions,,etc.. has really put me off doing the job back home. The kit here is nt quite up to the standard available in the uk but the chippers are bigger!

Reg, even though arborist isnt on the occu short list it is still very highly regarded and having an arb qual will give lots of residency points. Adam, wre you at the nats and the conference in november? i might off seen you there.

The kiwis dont go on about the all blacks so much any more(thank god) and tonight england will beat them in the cricket 20/20.

I spent about a year in Christchurch on the South Island, loved it, great climate, mountains, sea, etc.. Still regreting returning to the UK. I worked for the council, similar work to the UK, in Chch the trees are even mostly like home apart from all the big elms... Lots more space, rare to have a long shitty drag as stuff is spread out more. We used big truck mounted MEWP's a lot and a 10 inch chipper for most jobs. I'd be back in a shot if it wasn't so far away..
