what logs have you been chopping today!

Neat. Is that trunk just resting on the pallet forks as you cut it? Looking for ways to reduce manual handling in my wood chopping... (Personal use only, not large volumes, so not much budget!)

Yeah, sure is. Saves the old back, no lifting, no bending down to cut on the ground. no getting the saw in the clay.

Ideally i would like a small 3 pt crane with grab, but thats the price of the tractor.

Been processing a few bags of this oak, it splits superbly.

First time I’ve had a good 8 hours at it in a day for a while. Near constant chain troubles to start with and a friend operating for the first time so I can keep cages moved and logs coming yet still managed a respectable 2 cube an hour on average 6” diameter!

What logs have I been cutting today? Filth just pure filth. To add to it it had all been shoved up into a heap with a loader with a few rocks thrown in for good measure so plenty of sharpening of chainsaws during the day. Still cleared the lot and the customer was happy. 

 

Only took pictures mid afternoon so there was a lot more orrible wood earlier in the day.

Yep some of it was fairly dry to add to the joy.

 

Then today processed 12 or so tonnes of this which pretty much makes up for yesterday.

Been running some alder through the 8 way on the Transaw, set to 550 long, it is making great mini billets that stack well, set up like this it eats huge volumes of timber, takes longer to stack it than process it !
