Cheers Steve.

I will be doing that, my biggest fear was buying something I wished was more powerful / robust and then buying the bigger saw at a later date anyway.

But you would have the right tool for the job & some redundancy! you woldnt play golf with one club?

I wouldn't play golf if you paid me

Is the wood you were given going to be a regular thing ? I have my Husqvarna 135 and on a 14" bar it will cut anything I need for firewood. I have an old Stihl 036 with 18" bar bought on Gumtree for £120 and it's a strong saw but I don't cut a lot of bigger wood so it doesn't get used as much as it uses a lot more fuel than the 135. I've looked at selling and just getting one 50 or 60 cc saw like the 620SX but can't make my mind up.

Cheers for the advice guys .... I've just ordered a 560 XPG with a 15" bar :thumbup1:

Should be plenty powerful enough for what I need initially and also cover me in the future should I venture towards bigger tasks.

I wouldn't play golf either, I'd rather be cutting and splitting wood !!!

Hi, I have an MS250 which is fine but it dosnt seem made to last & there are certain things that are annoying about it. That 115 sounds good but I have a 346xp perhaps itll be around when that goes...

The 420 is a similar sized saw that is beautifully engineered & cuts very well for its size with no daft gimmicks - my Echo620sx friend has one in his collection #Envy

My comment about the 420 being a fav of yours was one of friendly sarcasm due to the fact that I'm itching to try one out myself :thumb up:

The newness of the dolmar saws iv got stops at the 115i and works back to 111 and 109 . I like the build and materials used plus the 115 is such a strong little beggar I'm just wanting to test out some of the new ones myself. Mostly Stihl and Husqvarna come in but not 1 new Dolly, so time to put money where mouth is and shell out on one for evaluation.

Yes, friendly sarcasm I barely noticed...thats one of the things I like on the forum, but dont you get me hooked on a 115 as well - Its hard enough to justify the 420 - want & need or is it wanton need?

Bearing everything that's already been said and considering your needs and possible needs. Either a 365 or 365 Special. The 560 or the 550 would be good but the 365 is a solid plugger without the high strung whistles & bells.

Yes, 365sp or 365xt is a great saw & mines on the mandatory 20" RobD bar (otherwise known as Sugihara) makes me smile anyway:biggrin:

Bon weekend a tous

Forget this nonsense about starting with smaller saws. I doubt many of the professional users on this forum started out on small 'homeowner' saws. Personally the first saw I used was a Husky 262. Its all about your budget, if you can push to a professional spec saw then do so.

I always say something similar
