Had a long weekend in Snowdonia 26 years ago visiting family, on the last day went up Snowden via the pyg track and down again, drove the 2 hours in the XR2i home to the evening of our village show, by which time most of us had moved to the pub to which i saw this gorgeous buxom brunette looking slightly anxious with a gentle Scottish accent standing by my side, the rest is history and she is still by my side 26 years later as my wife.

those were the days.

That's the sort of gung ho attitude the Mountain Rescue people must get pretty fed up with. Still I guess some people are just so hard.

If you have limited experience stay off Crib Goch, come back and do it on a fine sunny day. There are plenty of alternatives that are challenging.

Ps meant to add that even in summer to the ill equipped the mountain is a killer. People seem to think oh what can we do today.. Oh hey let's go to wales n climb Snowdon... It can't be so bad it's got a train going to the summit.

Wind speeds can exceed 150 mph and temps in winter can plummet to - 20. Take care my friend.

Was expecting replies like that to be honest. And as ive got no gear and no experience with mountain walking think I'll give this one a miss!

Cheers guys.

get up the pig track, done that in the middle of winter, and done it in howling winds.

I used to go there knowin it was rough weather.. its a welsh mountain, not the rockies...

People have no confidence in themselves these days to do what our four fathers would have taken for granted, also having health and safety rammed down our throat at every opportunity is having an effect,

I live and work in a mountain environment so walking the hills is second nature to me, i am also old enough not to be taken in by the nanny state, at presrnt i am nursing a couple of broken ribs through a little mishap by myself, but hey, I'll live.

Agree with everythin you said.. people have bin made soft these days..

what should be a micro adventure has bin turned into a nightmare scenario of falling ice sheets and hurricane gales looking to flip you off the nearest precipice..

I remember once at the top of Snowdon havin a fully kitted out "expert walker" berate me for climbing in a tea shirt...

You could freeze to death she said..

Yea, course I could, I'm at the top for ten minutes before I set off back down, I doubt I'll be freezing to death in ten minutes flat...
