My boss uses 14's but I only use 12's. I feel you get a small amount of extra grunt with a 12 and I just feel cumbersome with a 14. But my boss swears by them. Horses for courses and all that

Ive had 12" then 14" I prefer 14.

I mostly do removals so enjoy the flexibility the extra length gives you.

If I was doing a lot of light reductions or tight space stuff like careful repollarding, I might go for 12" but then I'd buy a 150.

I've tried both on my 540. The saw is a bit livelier with a 12" but I find that the 14" balances it well. On dismantles it means that you can go a bit further before you get the bigger saws sent up. On reductions and thinning work I often think that I should have kept the 12" on.
