I have a pulley saver, not used it much as I prefer the art ropeguide with the thick webbing sling rather than rope. I find it doesn't tend to get caught up quite so easily. Unfortunately I just retired my ropeguide for the new year amongst with a massive pile of other stuff so am back on the pulley saver again.

I believe mine is the 4m one, overkill for most things but comes in handy when needed.

I've recently bought a zigzag after 6 years with a prussic. Its really good. What I'm still getting to grips with is what length sling to use and when. Currently I have a sling to get up into the tree using a pantin that puts the device at the limit of my stretch making it really easy to ascend. I then change to a short 20cm soft link for moving around the tree. I find it a bit awkward to take rope in when climbing with the shorter soft link. What do other people use?

I agree about the overkill most of the time as top anchor but comes into its own when chogging down big stems. Whatlength does the ART rope guide come in

Nothing. Its supposed to sit straight on your bridge. Thats not to say you cant use a sling on it if you'd rather just straight pull from beneath the device

1.5m or 3m. Mine was 1.5m

I've been considering one for a while. you mention a pulley saver, do you put this up the tree with a throw bag and rope or do you set it up once you get to the top? Are they any good on conifers? Can they be used on any rope?? Cheers

I choose my zigzag over my lockjack all the time.. I use it with a teufelbeuger pulley saver and find it brilliant. Although it has seen some punishment and my last couple of climbs (albeit nearer the end of the day when I'm tired and on the defensive) I've sat back and checked it out for cracks!!

They can be used on any tree just like a prussik. I install my ropeguide manually. Work best with 11.7mm rope. It will work with thicker but you will probably lose most if not all of the self tending benefits

I just bought the new Marlow venom 11.8mm to use with my ZigZig. I find it quite springy especially with a high anchor point... I'm beginning to get used to the bounce and it tends really nicely.
