If you de-activate you disappear BUT all you settings and friends remain hidden in cyber world till you re- activate so answer is NO.

A tip for anyone who wants to disappear from Facebook, delete everything before you de-activate so you do not re-appear via third party comments .

Been on FB for close to 10yrs now. Have to say hardly ever "browse" or upload anything anymore, only really use the messaging service. However the call feature is great, being able to phone family and friends in other countries for free from your mobile is very handy.
