Thanks everyone for the positive comments it took a lot of sweat and tears as I'm no fabricator but I'm really pleased with the outcome. If you have the time I'd recommend building your own partly because of cost but also you can change ideas as you go along to suit your needs.

Whats cabstar like? they seem to offer a fair few engines that dont need ad blue.

I had a swb and it was fantastic had 2 transits before and would not have another. The pros definitely out weighed the cons. As 3 1/2 t tippers go I thought it was excellent. I put heavy duty springs on the back of mine so plod never knew what I was carrying.

Had ours built by a local fabrication company was around £1000, hardwood ply on the inside with alloy sheets on the outside to look pretty.

So I striped the tipping frame down to this and built on from there.

Added the box...

Built the frame from 50mm x 100mm box and 25 x 40 strengtheners

Quick lick of paint

The side frame is made from 40 x 40 box and then added 40 x 5 flat bar to house the Ali panels as you can see a bit of in the last pic.

Started to cut and rivet the 200 x 25 hollow Ali panels with 4.8mm rivets with wide heads

Headboard is made from corrugated floor planks as they handle the beating from the chip spraying better than the hollow planks

Doors are made from the hollow panels with caps on the ends

Steel roof but I would have preferred Ali but tried to keep cost down. Ow and roof and floor is made from 2mm steel sheet. Floor seam welded and roof riveted encase I decide to change it in the future.
