Most companies that run cs38 coarses do kit hire,you might want to hire rather than buy the extra kit.

Thats true, the only things I owned were my harness, helmet and a webbing sling.

He's got 3 krabs, and 3m prussik cord in his basket.

 

Should be fine to make a lanyard from the tail of his rope.

I'll leave all the extra stuff for now that will essentially just be for the cs38, I'm sure the centres equipment will suffice for that, but worth noting.

 

I was penning on making the lanyard from my main line and the 3m length of boa, so I should be good on that front.

When you do get a lanyard after your coarse you'll need a 5 meter lanyard for the bigger stuff

Personally I wouldn't go chopping bitsfoff your main line to make a lanyard when you could just buy a length of rope for a few quid, false economy. It's easy enough to chop a brand new rope even when you don't plan to! done it myself too many times

yep never make a rope shorter on purpose....

 

plus i think its a bit better to have a different coloured lanyard

Yup. My lanyard is about 2.5 metres. Don't need any bigger unless I'm strapped to a thick stem, and I've got a flipline for that.
