Its good to do a good deed Jon, I had the oil level light on halfway up France in the middle of the night, got to a petrol station but it was fuel only unmanned, so I asked this lady if there was somewhere I could get some oil, 50k to the nearest, so as I was phoning the AA she went back home and brought me a gallon can from her garage, and wouldnt take a penny for it.

Havent said a bad thing about the French since (ish)

They use Euros little wonder she refused

but pennies worth more, well last week perhaps

Whilst i was in a queue at esso a while back, i became aware of a young fellow coming in behind me in quite an agitated state. He was pacing about like the world was on his shoulders so i asked him if he was alright - he said he'd just put some petrol in his car and now realised he'd left his wallet at home.

I told him to calmly explain to the guy behind the counter what had happened, and to offer whatever he had of value with him as a deposit, with his name, address and number, and then return to pay as soon as possible.

This must have been acceptable to esso because as i pulled my truck away from the pumps, he caught my eye as he came out of the door, and cheerfully gave me the thumbs up.

I was over in Somerset earlier on in the year doing my Assessor Training. On a narrow road heading back to my digs I kindly moved over to allow a contractors van past and ended up completely bottomed out in a drainage ditch that was obscured by the long grass, the contractor carried on without even stopping, left me high and dry with no phone signal.

The next vehicle along the track was a tree surgeon. He had a go at pulling me out with his tipper before heading off to get his brother and tractor to lift the front end of my truck out of the ditch and out of trouble.

I only had a tenner on me but they wouldn't take a penny, I was totally stumped and they went out of their way to help me even after an hard day at work.

One of the guys was called Andrew, Somerset Tree Specialists (I think) based out of Langport.

We often just hear about the thieves and scrotes in our society and this gave me a great feeling knowing there are still good people out there, if the boot was on the other foot, I know I would have done the same.

Thanks guys.
