Only one I've done is to put the gob cut in a twin stem into one stem huge conifer, went round the back to put the back cut in, got the cut perfect and an inch behind the gob.

There was invisible included bark, the front fell perfect exactly where I wanted it whilst the rear section fell backwards and lent against the house

:lol:

Now that deserves a chuckle !! Would have loved to have seen that Dean.

It was quite funny how the spectators turned up to watch... then got bored and wandered off!! There's me dripping in sweat forearms burning from slinging the sledgehammer saying 'oh it'll soon be down... they often put up a bit of a fight..!' then turning to John and saying 'we may have to get another vehicle on this!!'

I had to work for every milimeter those wedges went into that tree.

Oh I'm in that corner right now naked whilst telling my girlfriend 'harder' with a freshly sharpened .404 chain....!

:sneaky2::biggrin:

Rob, we all know its not your missus and that its your flagellation gimp administering that well deserved punishment. You bad, bad boy.

Still, could be worse- i was milling pippy oak all day today into 3"x4" beams, and managed to waste about 7 running metres of it by working late and tired and mis-measuring..........:thumbdown:

better send the gimp down, i have the chain ready......:lol:

Funny isn't it how spectators always turn up when you dont want them and when you do a perfect fell deserving of a round of applause, no-one ever sees it

It's always the way... luckily as long as the tree goes in the right direction they tend to think the job's a good 'un.

Unfortunetly in this case John was there so a cover up was not an option! :laugh1:

I think we all have!!

It's great sharing stories of when things go right but it also helps sharing when things go wrong... and they're the stories you end up remembering and laughing about over a beer!

And we all do it..... but still you feel a right wally especially when you should know better.

Still the wood in that tree looked good - will be posting some pics of the timber at a later date.:laugh1:
