Hi,does anyone know of a suitable visor/chin guard combination?

(A recent HSE bulletin described an injury occurring when a branch came up beneath the visor) Oregon Waipoua Helmets have a chin guard as an optional extra that fits the criteria, but I can't seem to find them on sale without buying the whole helmet. Any thoughts on this? I am using a Petzl Vertex vent with Peltor ear defenders and a Hellberg visor carrier.

Alternatively...does anyone have any suggestions to help combat this type of injury. Obviously, the risk of eye injury is very high and goggles would solve the problem but I have limited peripheral vision and goggles would compromise this.

Thanks.

Just to put this into context. Does the HSE bulletin describe just one injury, or do they have a high occurrence of branch Vs. chin incident?

My belief would be that this is the former, and if you worked out the odds on similar injuries occurring to you, I'm sure they would be astronomical.

In short - don't worry about it as its probability of occurrence is very low.

Keep it down and tucked it . Watch for the feet as he plants the for the upper cut but keep your head down coz the right cross is next , then you counter punch and step away .

Was working with a friend recently who cut a small branch which fell onto a wire fence, flicked up and a twig went underneath his visor and right up his left nostril! Talk about unlucky.. The thing pissed with blood and he had a headache for about 2 days afterwards!

I've only got one eye to start with so I don't want to take too many chances.

Maybe a fencing mask?

Then the probability of it happening to you has just dropped a further 50%
