I am thinking about buying a circular saw bench to try and make life easier cutting up, currently we are just stacking timber on the floor and go at it with a chainsaw which is productive but tiring after a period of time. Uniforest? Posch??? I have never used 1 before so any info would help.

I have a balfour saw bench. Electric version. It's pretty good but doesn't have the same 'umpth' you get from a PTO version. Great for firewood but I also use it for cutting up sleepers for landscaping/benches etc. Can get a nice square end cut that it hard to get exact using a chainsaw.

I paid about £1200 new.

I was thinking about running it off our old db tractor that is now sat idle in the yard, I assume a pto version would be cheaper still.

What's Balfour tackle like?

The various ones i have seen on youtube do seem to be really productive, all though the majority looks like you have to hold the log which defeats the object of having a guard!

There's a few hundred ton to go through so i don't really wanna buy cheap.
