Igland winch on alpine tractor.

Has any body got some pics they can share of an adaptor for an igland winch to fit an alpine ?

We have a tiny igland that you think would fit straight on but no ! The pto was cut so short to avoid the shafts bottoming out that it slides out when on the deck so any answers to the problem would be great. ImageUploadedByArbtalk1448561326.369213.jpg.7560fdbcd79986c647607da9af631697.jpg

Last pic shows how short the pto has ended up which still does not solve the problem !

Go to an agricultural dealer and get 2 lengths of lemon shaft, far cheaper than buying a complete shaft, just knock out roll pin and remove old shaft and re pace with a new one ,drill hole and refit roll pin.lemon shafts come in 3 metre lengths but you only need to buy as much as you need.

Does not solve the problem Stevie .... It needs to still be shorter when raising and longer when operating ! It pushes the winch to the side still when raising as its too long and when lowered spits the shaft out as its too short..any way I've tapped the pins out and put new splines in so its a normal full length pto that needs to be cut when the adapter is made.

Matty they all get longer and shorter as they go up and down, the secret is getting it cut correctly so it work properly. You can get away a wee bit by extending and shortening the top link but you only have to do that if the shaft isn't right.

Sit it level and measure the distance between the end of the pto shafts.

Take your pto shaft to an agricultural dealer and leave it to him they should know what to do, even better take the whole unit to them, call them first.

When off road and winching on wet or steep ground the winch will want be lower than usual, the shaft will fall out you just have to stick a bit of wood or rest on a stone or stump.

Yeah I get that Stevie I've cut plenty before and never had problems !! The pto falls out on flat ground now and still needs to be shorter ...Tom d will tell you that it can't be made to fit as he had to get an adapter for his igland on his alpine , the bottom link pins are too far back and the pto box to far forward for small tractors... Even though the winch is for a small tractor !

call kilworth ask for a price for the adapter 3pl needed for winches on the alpine, I think TomD has one see if you can get a photo off him

sounds like you already knew that then. Most winches will need an adaptor to fit an alpine, the short link arms and off sets on the pto don't really work together
