I have not heard the hilux having these problems and I drove both vehicles in my opinion I could live with the hilux not the dmax.

The hilux draw back for me was the 2.8 tonne tow limit but that does not bother you.

I think if you fit a heater you could be throwing good money after bad and trying to polish a turd.

A quick google did show up a few discussions on rising oil levels in Hiluxes but not many to be fair but there clearly is demand to have them removed Toyota DPF removal Diesel Particulate Filter DPF removal Toyota

To add a heater to this generation of diesel engine suffering a DPF issue is to NOT understand the issue of DPF regen. You will indeed have a nice warm engine, but that does not make a nice HOT dpf. The Webasto heaters are an old world solution to old world diesel engines long before DPF's were ever thought of - work well on old 90's diesel's with mechanical pumps but not on new common rails with DPF. The issue of engine wear on a cold start is entirely different to DPF issues. But WTF do I know.

Don't people light small bonfires under cold engines any more then?!

They do in Stalingrad - I saw it in 'Enemy at the Gates'

It's not just the engine that suffers - the exhaust system too. We spent our lives welding up the silencer, box and pipes on a truck that never got warm. A new exhaust system was over a grand then!

So are you saying time vs temperature is what matters in dpf world?
