Horrible accident

I've worked on highways contracts for years and I've had 100's of people jump barriers, drive over cones, swerve round ground staff, I've had two drivers ram a traffic light so they could access the road! The public are a nightmare. I haven't really hurt anyone yet thankfully...... Although I wrote an Audi A4 of once with a beech chog because the driver refused to stop and I flattened a postman with a conifer top, my best Groundie would slap a stop/go board across the windscreen if they didn't stop which usually does the job!

The whole story appears a little short of facts, if as reported, the tree was being pruned!

It was being felled, not pruned..

I was wondering if the fella on the bike might of been detracted by somethin before he happened on the scene, maybe listening to an Iplayer or somethin..

I mean he must otherwise of heard a chainsaw.. maybe its a case of the fella knowing it was gonna fall but attempted to outrun it..

a game of chicken gone wrong..

The tree was obviously marked for removal. Most people living in NYC are certifiable. The ones on bicycles are very dangerous.

I also agree with Steve on this one when it comes to the final word after the investigation is complete. I believe there will be no final word and the investigation will come and go. NYC is a constant rat race, sometimes the rats get crushed.

If the membership had any idea how many people get hit, crushed, mangled, shot, stabbed, run over on a daily basis in NYC it would be easier to understand the news report and realize its just another day in NYC. The fact that the person that was crushed was a delivery man is one more example of the rat race mentality that exist in this city.

Being distracted in NYC is a daily happening, if not way of life.
