Having grown up with 6 David Browns around me and everyone that my Dad bought was a manual box because the fitters always told him to stay clear of them , even the sales man said the sane thing .

They are a absolute pig to fix .

Engines good, then it went downhill

 

I rebuilt one, skimmed the block, head and pistons then a few years later the crank cracked. Engine was good for me as it payed my mortgage for a month or so. Still going now though. Hydro shift was trouble free. Just shows they all vary
