Friend got ms084 in fair condition and wants to sell.

 

Is this saw any good?

 

What should I offer £££££ ???

 

Do really need a saw that big but you never know and it's a classic that I could use in the future maybe?

£400/£500 depending on condition.

 

Personally I'd be looking a bit lower than that. The 084 was a good saw with loads of torque, which is really what you want in a big saw, but there are now some serious issues with parts availability, most notably the coil. Pot and piston can be replaced but only with OEM which is very expensive.

 

When you consider that an 076 can be had for around £350 (sometimes even less) and an older 088 for £600, both of which have full parts availability, I would go for one of these for preference, the 084 would have to be a serious bargain to justify it.

Any ideas on what a fair offer would be? How much would you let yours go for££££?

 

£800!

 

It's my favourite big saw, the 076 is pathetic in comparison.

 

Drinks fuel, too heavy to carry about so only came out for felling ad xcutting, I used to debranch with husky 262, my mate used 044 but I found that too heavy.

 

Fantastic with twin heads on a mill
