Dodgy pop.

Against my better judgement I agreed to repollard a pop with about 40' of regrowth, 8" dia stems. Job is for an old mate whose house is cracking badly, probably due to this manky old tree (big cavity in base as well).

Tree felt sketchy from the off, targets were his house, fence and BT line, so 1/2 needed lowering.

Got to the fun bit, knocking a few stems straight into his garden. One stem struck another a glancing blow, and the whole thing peeled away from the old pollard point and crashed down. Proper shepherds pie moment. If it had been my anchor stem I would have been in trouble.

Mate-rate money on the job as well!

I dislike poplars generally. I especially dislike ones which have been pollarded then left for years. Why,why, why? Big money on these jobs from now on, methinks.

Feel lucky I got away with it tonight.
