Hello lads/ladies im looking to start climbing soon and have a climber that gets subbed in from time to time offering to get me started off before I do the ticket later next year. At the moment what I have on my list is:

XTC Fire One Spliced Eye 25m (80')

New Petzl Sequoia

Teufelberger CE Lanyard

DMM Boa Colour Coded Multipack(3 in the pack)

Stein Products Kit Bag

Thinking I need some friction management devices but not 100% sure on what one is best for someone starting out.

Maybe there's something else im missing? Spikes?

Thanks for any help.

id add a cheap double ring cambium saver, and id get at least a 35m rope

a micro pulley and some friction cord for your hitch.

plenty more you could get, never ending it seems!!

good luck carl

As carlos said basically, start with basic kit, basic hitchs, start low and go from there!

Wouldn't bother with the ce lanyard ....over priced!!! just get whatever length piece of rope you want as a lanyard, couple of karabiners piece of friction cord and a micro pulley to make your own, will be less than half the price

100% this

i wouldnt of said you need spikes and a flip line to learn to climb, there expensive too.

mechanical friction devices are not a must and expensive, id say get climbing on a hitch with pulley such as the VT knot, or what ever your mate shows you,
