The D.I.Y arb truck chip body thread

I had a thought today whilst at work, is there a thread on here for all the guys who can't justify having a brand spanking arb truck with a massively expensive chip body? A thread for showing each other the home made, D.I.Y bodies designed and built onto pre owned vehicles.

 

The idea came about when considering how I was going to design and build a more permanent body on my transit. Perhaps we could post pictures of the build to the end product, to give each other ideas and inspiration for home made arb bodies.

 

Just a idea, let's see how it goes.

The best high sides you can get on a budget are old metal garage doors or the hoarding ie solid sheet fencing that is used on building sites and the like . Just add a bit of angle iron and welding for the frame and paint

Mines made from Galv sheeting and box section!! Strong and cheap!

Angle iron welded into a frame, plywood added. Added a flap and gas struts when I got the GM.

A half roof (at least) is a must IMO.

Here's the body on my pick up. Had a fabricator mate weld the frame up. Then powder coated. I boarded it with ply, the black "foamex" board over the ply sides before sign writing

Put this together purely just to see how effective & viable it was!

So far it's been mega for the little jobs! Not having to drag trailers and swap over equipment all the time!
