The new planting is much needed throughout the north west.

It has been neglected for a long time in the face of serious loss of significant trees.

Advertising is a LA doing what it ought to and the politicians are going to make political mileage out of it, that way they can point to the good deed while other services are eroded.

Unfortunately Andy to some extent I'd agree. But if the street scene changes positively with new trees, it's got to be for the good - no matter what the motives behind it.

It's easy to knock LA's as an organization, but things like this have little impetus without real people within the council championing and pushing these schemes on.

I wasn't knocking the LA they are simply doing what they can with what they are given.

I was a bit more specific than that, what I said was politicians making political brownie points out of something they should already have been doing.

Rather than publicising the fact they ought to just get on with it and hope no none notices they weren't already doing it.

Looks like a good planting scheme. I hope they keep some money back for the after care though. Otherwise in 5-10 years time someone will be along to grind the metal barriers out and fell the trees. Did a lot of this over the years for our LA, no after care meant a very short lived expensive loadfof trees.

I wasn't accusing you of knocking them, just saying it's easy generally to be critical. Political brownie points are always going to happen, but in this instance I'm glad that they are and in this particular arena.

Are they publicising the fact or attempting to garner community support for trees? I'd like to be optimistic and say the latter:biggrin:

I'd expect that the officer involved and organizing these planting to be on the ball. Whether the LA still has TO's in 5-10 years may be another matter. It's pretty dire here at the moment regarding council budgets so who knows, which is why I'm glad, brownie points or not, somethings getting planted.

Happens everywhere. I rarely hoover or wash up, but when I do I expect a blowie for it.

Presumably when you go round your mums.
