Hi

Ive heard the 560xp is 'designed for 800 hours of use'

If this is correct, its pretty terrible to be honest - as 800 hours would be less than 6 months daily use on a very conservative 40 hour week.

I hope this is wrong, so if anyone knows otherwise?

You are very wrong!

Its designed to be a great saw for 8 minutes of use.

Lol!

Got a 560 in May this year....few weeks ago just started randomly cutting out on tickover.

Took it back to my dealers, they plugged it in, yep new carb!

They were great & had it done the following day for me.

To be honest I have lost my faith in it...& I really wished I got a 362 instead.

Had one before I got broken into, very reliable!

Auto tune one or the older 'proper' carb model?

In fairness to the 550 /560 most fuel issues i have seen with them were down to crap fuel , Most of the cutters around here run them flat out with poundshop oil, never clean or maintain the saws airways or air filter then wonder hows it stopped ? Funny how the dealers always blame faults on the Carb ? Base gasket is a major issue on these saws !

Surely no one actually uses cheap oil in professional saws!? Red stihl oil is only a tenner or so a litre

Er, "Red stihl oil" aka HP is "cheap" too - completely underspecified for modern electronic saws - read the manual... Warranty not covered when using HP et al mineral oils. This must have been mentioned on here 437574839932932 times by now.

Completely agree on using cheap oil. Mineral oil was ok on older machines but certainly not on the newer generation of machines, stihl included.

These newer xtorq engines seem to run at a lower compression so using the decompressor when warm does cause starting issues ime.
