VT for the first time.

Well second actually, the first time I tried it was back in Feb on Rich Rules set up. I could'nt get on with it and everytime I got it wrong Rich would rap my nuckles with a silky, which did,nt help really and got blood everywhere.

 

Anyway after Saturday I knew it was time to invest in my own and get used to it. So today I used it properly for the first time and what a treat, especially when used with my new pantin.

 

I got used to it fairly quickly and loved it, infact I'm actually looking forward to climbing again tomorrow. Thats a first for years.

 

I think I've got it set right although I must get some oval crabs next. In the last pic I put an extra wrap on the tail but wont know until tomorrow what it feels like.

 

So any old buzzards that aint switched over yet should really give it a try. It's nice to get excited about climbing again.

i think you have it slightly wrong there mick, the 2 knots should be either side of the hc in the bottom hole straight onto your harness then the other end clipped onto either the middle or top hole mate. take a look throught the vt threads mate

That's exactly how i felt 3-4 years ago when Steve showed me how to do it online. Revolutionised my climbing, now you need a ART ropeguide and you'll feel 15 again lol

rope guide is cool alright buzz, like mick i was looking forward to climbing again.

Means that when you've just got back up the tree after a break and the client comes out with a cup of tea for everyone you can pop back down for it and it's a 10th of the efffort to get back up

Glad your enjoying it mick. I use a hitchclimber over my lockjack that i also have. Like buzz says get a rope guide and you'll be flying up them trees:cool1:

Like shrek says though your vt looks a bit odd,here's a couple of pics of mine. The one in the pic is tied slightly shorter than i normally have it.

I did on site this morning from memory. Just had a look at Matty's pic again and set it on the patio. Think its right now. Now it will work even better than today. How will I sleep tonight, I'm even more excited now haha.

keep at it mick, take a pic of it from the computer so you have it at work, wait till you get a ropeguide mate, zoom zoom zoom lol

i have been using it for a couple of months and i can see the massive benefits for slack tendering and limb walking BUT i still dont think i have the technique for ascending into the tree, anyone have a video so i can watch someone climbing on it, the pantin is brilliant though

I think mine is set slightly different mick as i keep the top back leg over the wraps...it wont bite as well (well it does just fine for me!)and you will need more turns on the wraps and braids to make it do so but it self tends at about 20ft...
