my mate brought his saw for me to look at, seized, lots of transfer on the pot but not too much scoring, checked plug and was normal biscuit colour and he said it wasnt revving high beforehand so im assuming it was his crap fuel, it smelt a bit funny/stale

Ordered a meteor kit for it, but before i fit it ,is there anything else to check ?

Cheers

Nice saw, you should check for air leaks around the inlet boot, the boot also includes the impulse, so you need to be sure the boot fits correctly onto the cylinder, the later machine has a metal clip to secure the boot, this was abetter solution than the plastic clip on the earlier machine, check the fuel filter in the tank, and the fuel screen in the carb.

It's a red 357xp, so the usual, seals, carb boot and fuel lines!

I've done two of these recently with transfer on the piston, both due to intake boot.

The cylinders are very clean-upable even if you use the new one. Worth £25 in ebay. The Meteor 357 cylinders are very good.

Try wet and dry paper and see if you can take the transfer puff and check all of above and try and see uf it's ok

Not sure I wish to "take the transfer puff" in my workshop, you sure it is legal???
