I use a Harkie Smock, super waterproof and cut to ensure the water stays out. High collar, low back and internal cuffs to stop water going down your arms. No seams, zips or pockets, and conforms with Hi-Viz regulations. Trouble is they get hot and sweaty very quickly. That's the trade off I suppose.

Goretex only works in a dry atmosphere.

Your body creates heat on the inside, high air pressure, and this easily pushes moisture out into the low pressure dry atmosphere outside.

Al Gore designed the fabric for high altitude mountaineering.

Here in Britain, the atmosphere is similar inside the jacket to outside. Therefore, a breathable membrane cannot work.

It's the same reason that fishermen don't wear breathable wet gear.

Well there's something I didn't know! Thanks for the info:thumbup1:

Hi!

I'm having such a hard time finding a good jacket that will keep u "semi-dry" as well as "semi-hot/cold"... if that makes any sense... :-)

And the fun part... it has to be hi-viz...

From January this year, all people operating a chainsaw in Sweden must wear hi-viz.. Problem is finding a jacket that is more suited for our line of work..

I'm thinking of either stihl's x-fit en471, husqvarna technical en471 or Pfanner's forest jacket en471... I'm leaning towards the planner jacket..

Any smarter? Me neither... :-))
