Best paint for protection against rust

Need to do some work on our processor as it's got a fair bit of rust developing. It was fine until last winter when I had a lot of jobs in the cold weather and towing it around on freshly gritted roads did it power of no good. Only metal paint I have used in the past is Hammerite but really not sure this is the best option plus it will look shabby unless I can get a colour match which seems unlikely.

Would love to get it galvanised but imagine that would cost a bomb so what do you recommend :thumbup1:

Powder coat has trouble with sheared edges, common on most machines. The big give away will be the edges where the coat comes adrift after a while. Cold weather wont help it any.

Paint and coat can be colour matched, just find a paint specialist. Cellulose can be brushed or sprayed, as can 2 pack but spray will give a better finish.

The secret to good painting is better preparation.

Might be worth checking out Galvafroid high zinc 95% metal primer, if you can get rid of the rust and get it back to the bare metal it`s good stuff, takes real well to a blasted surface. Cheers

Think it would have to be blasted as everything gets covered in hydraulic oil from the chain.
