Towing chipper with a ring hitch.

Anyway I've got this GM220 and it came with a ring hitch. I've never had one before, what a PITA! Slamming and banging, a real nightmare. So we have to do a job a couple of hours south of me starting Monday, and I wasn't looking forward to the drive, so the groundy had the idea of wrapping an old inner tube round the ring, zip tie it in place and a bit of grease to prevent rubbing. I took it up the road and it's as smooth as silk....well almost.

What's the deal with ring hitches? Are they always this bad? Why have them?

Much more positive connection with heavy trailers.

Not sure why it was fitted to a GM220.

We used to have an old exenco that had that connection, defiantly banged around more than ball hitches but wouldn't have trusted one as much due the the weight of the machine

You can do a straight forward swap to a 50mm ball hitch?

Yes I can, but not before Monday! It's a Bradley double lock job so I'll get it on order on my return.

You can get a steel bush that fits inside ring hitch and bored to suit pin diameter.much better than your condom!!!!

Ok cheers, plenty of them round here. The condom will have to do for a day or two though.

In my experience they always knock you about when driving, ive always changed them over.
