Double cab or club cab pickup???

For me a LWB van. I could not take all my tools with me any other way. 2x 21 mower, 2x ladders, 2x strimmer 1x fs460, 2x chainsaws, hedge cutters, wolf garten rake & weeding tools, graft, spades, socket set tool box, tubs of fuel & oil, builders bags & 90L dustbins. I am sure theirs more. Set out in the morning I can usually do what ever i am asked with all the tools and remove quite a few cuttings. I am used to a van and could not deal with less than 3.5 meter load floor. I have 3 seats which is enough.

 

The restrictions are hard to load lose materails like compost or top soil & turf. Hard to remove large amounts of fencing or tree cuttings after all the skys the limit with a pick up. I also find 4wd piss poor. When I have used it on land rovers ect before I find it makes an awful mess and digs a big axel deep hole to bury its self when stuck. I have found hardcore & type 1 the best answer to accesses in the yard. Also what puts me off with 4x4 is I have a mate with a nissan navara he uses it as car and only gets 25mpg this thing is full of computers. I know of 200tdi that does 25mpg no computers. My van does 34mpg.

 

This works for me & my set up. I would guess I get more in my cab than a back of a double cab pick up.

If you are going to try and use it for the family in any way has to be double cab. If you are going to try and use it for work in any way has to be an extra cab preferably with the suicide doors. Personally I think the load space is too small and too high for most jobs they are good for pulling a 2 tonne trailer through a Forrest or quarry ( as long as it's not wet ) I would think most people in this game would be better off with a £400 ldv tipper for work and a nice car for the family.

I have a ford ranger super cab with a tipping chip box, I also pull a brian james 10x6 with a cs100 in it. The chip box needs emptying two or three times a day but you can move a decent amount of chip and then put a good quantity of logs in the trailer. The plus for me is the tools are secured in the alarmed cab and not on the back. Works for me, I would only change for a 7.5t tipper and a big 8/9 inch chipper.

Tut tut Steve, suicide doors!!! An Isuzu sales person told me they now have to call them facility doors!
