The only options I thought of where:

The classic p*key rope to unload the brash - but obviously this involves getting in and out of the tractor loads amd having a suitable tree to tie off against.

Converting a buckrake so it worked like a tip tip bucket. Would work off one DA and avoids the height issues. Problem is the risk of damage to he ram and piping.

Converting a land clearance grapple from a front loader. These have much shorter tines so the load would just drop. The issue is probably weight of implement and reduced load capacity. Something like this -

Like the tractor Adam, have you thought of a using a skidding grapple? I use mine quite a bit for brash shunting as well as timber. There was a decent looking botex one on ebay recently.

I have used my grapple for brash but I find its a bit 'fussy' and you need the right kind of pile! If you've laid all the branches with the 'handles' facing the same way it's great. If it's just a pile of brash I find I spend too much time trying to get a grab on it - it's like one of those soft toy machines in an arcade! Could just be me being impatient.

If you fixed/welded the skidding grapple so it didn't swing it would make it easier. Get over the top, drop the lift and then grab. Obviously fixed head reduces usability for skidding trees though.

Hi all, glad to say that I have joined the alpine tractor club with a Goldoni quad 20 which I am really chuffed with so far. I have been using it with a flail to mow bridleways. My question is I'd like to buy or fabricate an attachment to pick up piles of stacked brash. The only thing I can see to buy is a buckrake. I was wondering about getting my local ag engineer to make a muck grab that fits to the rear linkage and using the aux hydraulics works the jaws. I think there would need to be a tipping catch to help release the brash. Has anyone done anything like this or got any other ideas?

We build this to grab brash/timber on our alpine. It's on our loader but I've thought about building another to go on three point linkage, think it would work well with hydraulic top link to tilt/tip
