:lol::lol::lol: I think it would be only polite to go for a whole day :biggrin: Especially Considering as Jon is coming such a long way, and hes been looking forward to it for such a long time, and he hasn't been fishing for years, and he really needs some help:thumbup1:

Hi Jon, The Shimanos are one of the best but I use Okumas, very good IMO and cheaper :biggrin: I'm a bit like you, I stopped fishing for twenty odd years then got back into it six or seven years ago. Seems to me the kit is much better and cheaper than when I was a kid.

That sounds really good Jon

 

One more thought - I reckon don't buy too much gear, nothing worse than humping loads of tackle around. If you're barbel fishing you need to be mobile. I love the freedom you get from that. Its worth having a look at Chris Yates book, 'How to Fish' or watch him on TV. Hes really into watching the river or lake and the fish. Hes not much interested in tackle, interesting character.
