Lumag CS100 clone?!

Hiya!

I'm in the market for a wee chipper but due to business not being great funds are limited. I would love a cs100 but that's out of the question at the moment. I stumbled across the Lumag range of machinery after my mate bought one of their small stump grinders and for the money it doesn't look too bad, typical Chinese type bulid quality but you get what you pay for! I was just curious if anyone had come across their chippers? They make a model called the HC1500EW which looks to be a clone of the cs100 and costs £1500! I appreciate that it ain't gonna be the quality of a genuine cs100 but for the price worth a punt? I have emailed the company and apparently spares arnt a problem and they keep blades in stock. Seems like a good deal for a first wee chipper on a budget, comes with 2 year domestic and 1 year commercial warranty. Any views?!:)

Please don't. Please, please don't. Save up or finance something that will do the job justice, have some value, integrity and purpose. Something that has pedigree and supports the British, European or American market - not a bloody copy that means nothing to our economy. And buy it from a local dealer too....

I accept the above points but at the moment that machine is all I can afford, I need the chipper to get work and need the work to be able to afford to commit to finance! Also through my past relationship my credit rating isn't too good so no choice! Would love to have a shiney New cs100 but it's just not gonna happen, hence my wanting to know if anyone had come across the cheaper Lumag chipper.

Recently stripped my Stihl MS200T and was very surprised to see the carburettor 'Made in China'. The Honda engine on my Timberwolf chipper 'Made in China'.

All GX's are made in China now I think. But the GC which isn't as good is made in Italy.

Indeed, their are loads of things that originate from foreign parts that are worthy - iPhone, Honda engines, etc. And there is a market for everything somewhere. But it is cheap for a reason and local backup and support costs, quality engineering costs, pedigree, research and value costs. A cheap machine has non of these and the moment you pay out, it is worth so little to anyone else against a bigger machine - it is scrap. Yes it may chip a bit of brash but for how long? If it needs warranty work, who does it? And how near are they?

Think on this, you have invested in a machine to do a job and invested in a located supplier. When it doesn't work who will help you and invest in you by doing so.
