Bit of shooting (if easily offended don't look)

Was asked to sort out a rabbit problem on a livery yard next to the pheasant shoot, I'm involved with, steady night but next to a row of cottages so I took the air rifle and the 17 hmr.

 

16 bunnys and a Charlie right at the end.

Good for you, use to do a lot of shooting but could not bring myself to shoot anything now must be going soft!

With all due respect you want to solve a rabbit problem and you shoot one of its only predators I'm confused ?

Have heard some people in Suffolk call em tobey. Shot a dog fox Friday whilst out with the dogs.

If he is near a pheasant shoot , any poults they release would be easy pi kings for Tobey Charles Freddie.

Ok ... The shooting of dog foxes that control territory is not a good thing an experienced keeper in his 80's and had run shoots all his life told me that , I used to shoot for him and he told me that If you shot a dog fox expect to stay up for the next 3 nights with your rifle and for the ones that come in that are probably weak mangy and desperate for food to try and take its territory and do cause mayhem in release pens... I know another keeper who shot 60 over two days when some one shot his Alsatian sized dog fox.. Any way your land ,your shoots guys but I would rather nature control its predators or the hounds pick off the weak than just shooting them for the sake of it.

I'll stop with my unwanted opinion now as the reality is I'm no expert and don't know the underlying problems you could have , looked a good bag of rabbits though, pretty dry around here of them.
