ratio of cube per tonne for woodchip

Does anyone know the ratio of wet round softwood per tonne = cubic metre of G30 spec chip

Just trying to work out output per hour

Dunno per tonne but 1m3 roundwood produces approx 3m3 chip I think...

Once you start loading large trailers does the compaction of the chip at the bottom start too reduce the volume again??

There are a few different ratios about I intend to weigh and measure when I get time

I have been told around 3 cube of loose chip per tonne / and 4 ish per dry tonne

Maybe someone has already done this

It all depends on moisture content, wet wood will give 2.5-3 cube per ton, dry could be up to 4 cube per ton.

Not much compaction until the trailer moves. Biggest compaction we have found is in the shed when the telehandler pushes in and runs on the chip. I would guess we get up to an extra 25% weight / volume in the bottom half of the shed.

Chip for our boiler is very close to 4 cube / tonne. Wet might be 2.5 as already said.

The hundred cube walking floor trailers carry 30 ton of chip if brimmed. Thats with a mixed bag or cord and arb waste. 30 ton of cord takes up much less space.
