Thanks Jon . It's going to one of the boat owners he's got a Dutch barge with a big woodburner in there. And yep I need to shed a few pounds I haven't really climbed since end of feb and jumped on the scales and I put on a stone

I have the Gransfors maul and it is a lovely tool to use . Anything really nasty I start off with the maul then use a wood grenade and an old fibre glass handled sledge hammer . I also bought the small splitting axe from Gransfors for kindling , a nice axe too but seldom use it .

Hi HANSER WHAT maul have you got then and wedge as them gransfor wedges are great thanks Jon

Jon

Its an Leborgne 2.5kg. Nothing special and a couple of plain ordinary wedges. Green oak splits nicely. Chain saw for the horrible bits. In the forest we cut to 1 metre, split it and stack to 1 metre high.

Got a Rabaud logsplitter that I use a lot, but for the small jobs splitting a few logs I use a fiskars x27. Don't think you can get anything better for the money.

Amazed me when I used it for the first time how easy it was to split logs with it when you compare it to other axes or mauls.

I've got a gransfors splitting maul, splits oak and ash no problem. Well made tool for the job, nice touch having the steel sleeve round the handle under the head of the axe, saves damage to the handle. Razor sharp too, will cut straight through knotty wood and power through to split it. Can't fault gransfors at all.
