Drove from southampton to cambs today, on the M3 alone i passed over 10 transits with chippers on the back from about 7 companies, just wondered if anyone got picked up buy the mammoth operation VOSA had set up near winchester? they were doing chav cars, transits, lorries, 4x4s :cussing:

best bit was they also had guys walking round the services car park checking everyones tax discs, when they went into the services!

i had my petrol suzuki, so they didnt seem very interested (glad i didnt have the 130defender else i think they would have been all over it):cussing:

they must have had about 10-12motorbike units ferrying vehicles into the test area, and about 4 police cars patroling the area as well,

they had the full set up, mobile weighing rig the lot going over everything that they could

must admit it makes you think is everything on my vehicle ok?

as mentioned, you start to doubt your self and vehicle.

Yes, you do. I try my best to keep within the law, but I'd never be 100% certain that I'd remembered or checked everything. Years ago, I'd have been ashamed to be prosecuted for anything; now, I reckon it's just a matter of time and luck.

Nothing like living in a climate of fear to keep you on your toes, is there?

Touch wood I've been lucky and not pulled - typically our transits could have one or two minor faults at one time. tyres, lightboards, reg plates etc

I have also heard straight from the horses mouth that fully loaded our vans would not carry more than one tonne = Bu***sh*T and I am towing the tw190.

How far can you argue with the Boss before you are shown the door...staying within weight limits and using only transits would seriously jeopardise productivity..

An o-license and bigger trucks is required but he won't shell out.

If your towing a tw190 you NEED a o-licence! even if the trany is empty, its plated weight that they go off.

DAMN!! i think we mentioned this but the suggestion was rebuffed point blank - he won't have it...I am leaving soon ...thankfully!! partly because of this kind of thing. I will make sure the others are aware - although non of them tow it anyway.

I am still a little green to all this kind of stuff.

Have considered driving to a weighbridge with a typical load but that would get me in trouble I think.
