Arborist to artisan ...... something I have been doing for nearly 20 years now still do a bit of climbing /felling / groundwork and driving lorries but about 30% of my income is now woodcraft , and yes there is loads of wood out there that goes to waste but being in the right place at the right time to get it is the hard part , but I never go short ..selling work is another thing ...another guy I know used to work in forestry for a while and is now one of the worlds leading wood artists ... check out Nick Agar ..turningintoart ( sorry can't do link ) I used to give him wood ! ... some of the latest work, my fave is the olive ash candle stick at the end but hard to not love the live edged ash bowl with an olive base too.:001_smile:

 

Met another woodworker today after being approached as a milling job, guy turned out to be a total wood nut too, gonna be some really interesting projects in th pipeline. Woodworkers are a different kettle to arbs, you think you know people who love wood, then you meet woodies!:lol:

Thats some really artistic pieces. I am the other way round myself, as a turner I appreciate just what some "arbs" chip and chuck, so if any of you guys local to the Broads want to supply me some decent wood drop me a pm, never seem to be able to get the good stuff befor its kindling!!
