I've been wanting to make a pole-lathe. Does anyone have a link to some good plans? Cheers, Steve

Hi Steve, i followed instructions on how to build my lathe in Mike Abbots book "Green woodworking: Working with wood the natural way" the book costs about £30 quid with it being out of print but if you dig deep enough on the internet i'm sure you'll find some decent plans online. Cheers and good luck building!

Must be nice to make something using only your own energy, plus it must be very quiet :thumbup1:

I its a lovely process crafting them and you definitely need energy for the turning process!

I had a rather large piece of Beech and after watching a video of Robin Wood turning a nest of bowls i just had to have a go! I only aimed to get two bowls out of the wood and by some miracle and several hours of work i came out with my first nest, i'm well chuffed but think that i will stick to making single bowls for now.....:001_smile:

I've just finished oiling all of the silver birch bowls and i left one un-oiled (the one on the far left) so that you can see the difference before and after oiling. Used edible linseed oil btw. :001_smile::001_smile::001_smile:
