Alright guys

Just want to know do you hire your chipper out? I only hire mine to trusted people, but i want to set some sort of hire agreement set up. sort of thing you sign when your hire from HSS Hire etc. Does anyone have one made up allready or know where i can get one please? Any help would be great, just want to cover my ass if the machine gets damaged.

Joe

Don't do it it ain't worth the trouble. I've lent mine to trusted friends/family and something always goes wrong but they never tell you. You only find out when you use it. Do the job for them but don't rent it out you will regret it. But its up to you

Don't hire my machine out but will occasionally go and chip other peoples brash.

As an aside make sure you are properly insured to be able to hire gear out and that you have a comprehensive service record for the machine (PUWER) as if the machine causes damage to person or property it could be your insurance that is claimed on (e.g. tow hitch failure, blade failure).

What would you do if Joe Bloggs hired your machine and it broke down on them during the day? You could list in your terms that you are not responsible for immediate replacement of the machine if it fails

I'd imagine you need some sort of plant hire insurance for it and maybe the insurer could help with the rental agreement. That or hire something from HSS and copy their form.

3 replies in the time for me to do one.

If your doing formal rental just make sure all your PUWER stuff is top notch and up to date. I'd imagine a dealer service would go amiss on your records every year either.

Lots of reply's at once. I hire my machine out to a mate of mine a fair bit, he has his own business and always works well, but recently other tree surgeons have started to ask. £120 a day, a few days soon ads up a good amount, but its my only machine so dont know!

I know a guy who used to hire out his new tw150 to another guy, it actually paid the weeks hire purchase in one day.

So effectively the other guy was paying for the machine.

He knocked it on the head after he found brick dust in the hopper!
