Hi all, career progression is the topic. Obviously we all love trees- climbing them felling them and tidying up afterwards...

I just wanted to get some information from people who have moved on from that- what are the options, what are the avenues people took to get a career off the tools. ie surveying or teaching etc?

Thanks for reading

All opinions welcome.

I've known a few move to landscaping, digger work and fencing/gates.

Yeah a few people I have spoken to have said digger work- can be a good rate of pay.

Yes digger work is a really good option - My friend left Dave Ford Tree Care as a tree surgeon and moved onto digging. He was really happy with the move and enjoyed the pay.

I wouldn't recommend fencing personally.

What interests do you have outside work?

Maybe check out how to get into something you really enjoy. There are openings in most places for people with a genuine passion.

Wake up every morning desperate to get to work - and you've got it made.

Great advice Shane, As mentioned above I'm looking for some ideas for jobs within trees that people have progressed to (indicating more money/prospects less physical strain etc) if not in trees then what have people found themselves drawn toward. I'm in trees arm obviously and enjoy it, but we can't do it forever-can we?
