Husky strimmers

Hi.

Can anyone tell me why Husky strimmers have become cheaper than Stihl??

I have 2 FS410s and am looking to buy another 4 strimmers.

I used the Husky 545 a while back and really liked it. Better balanced and lighter, but went for Stihl purely based on cost.

As it is now Husky that's cheaper, I think i'll go with them!!!

Is this shift to do with the intro of 4 strokes??

Is there a catch as to why they are now cheaper??

Any advice greatly appreciated!!

Thanks.

I've always found Husky to be cheaper than STIHL at least around here. Not used a 545 for many years but in 3 years of owning it, it was broken more than it worked. Nothing on the 345 it replaced. To be fair it was a very early production run 545 and a lot of the issues were sorted down the line.

The STIHL 460 always feels clunky and cumbersome to the 545. Personally i'd have a look at the Echo ones. They have fancy gear boxes so you can do the work of a 60cc strimmer with a 35cc one. It does work had some out on demo and i was very very impressed.

Wish people would stop calling them strimmers, a strimmer is a small electric Black and Decker machine, these are brushcutters, as for the price, Husqvarna need to make some head way into the pro market, so maybe they are boxing clever.

To me a strimmer is anything with a line head on! Be it 25cc or 55cc :001_tt2:
