so who do I vote for if I'm concerned about immigrants trying to kill me and my family? it's labour/tories/lib dems that invited all those immigrants over in the first place. They are also the parties that love the "Human Rights Act", the laws that prevent us deporting terrorists.

ONE Norwegian shot those children up, how many Brits have went to fight with ISIS in Syria? Is it not 700 now? How many immigrants are on the news each week after being arrested for plotting terrorist offences? Can you see the difference between a lone madman and a culture which has significant members that want to kill everyone that is not like them?

My point is that they are not plotting to kill us because they are immigrants. The people leaving to join IS are British born and bred, as were the London bombers. Their misplaced gripe is idealistic not geographic. If there were no fundamentalist islamists in the country they would just change their tactics and fly planes into us instead.

The best way (in my view) to protect yourself and your family would be to lobby for less military intervention in conflict areas. Creating a closed and paranoid country will not help matters.

I'd imagine most of the 700 Brits that have went to join ISIS are from an immigrant background, the London bombers all came from immigrant stock. Maybe we should stop allowing immigrants in that come from the same mother countries?

I agree that the West intervening in Iraq etc was a mistake and has inflamed tensions. But if it wasn't Iraq it would be some other excuse, extremists killed 19 people for publishing some cartoons. Brits have been beheaded in Syria after they have went out there to help people. I think it's time to stop pretending that it's our fault that we are getting attacked..

Any sensible immigration policy should stop people that hate Britain and British values staying here. It really is that simple.

I think we may have to agree to disagree on this one:001_smile:

We are probably more similar than we think! You vote UKIP, I vote Greens. Neither of us stands a snowflakes chance in Hell of being represented:thumbup:

Sadly this is an often repeated but fundamentally wrong view. The majority of muslims in britain are peaceful and mean the rest of us no harm, unfortunately there are those who believe in the sharia and who would like to see its imposition across the world, wherever muslims live. Christians have their fundamentalists too, there are protests against gay pride etc by some pretty horrible christian fundamentalists in the US. Fundamentalism must be put down where ever we find it because its message is never one of peace or tolerance.

IMO we need to completely disassociate the state from any kind of religion, no religion in parliament, none in schools etc.

Most religions are peaceful if you don't follow them to the extreme, but because so many of them evolved a long time ago they are positively medieval when followed to the extreme. Its not that long ago that we were burning witches, and unfortunately extremist islam is about at the same evolutionary level, we can't wait 500 years for it to evolve into something more peaceful but we could help things along a little. If we want less terrorism then we need less religion.

Sadly no political party is suggesting this, but it is becoming clear that the british form of multiculturalism has been a failure. And its time we looked at it again.

Couldn't agree more about banishing religion from the state, unfortunately no political party is offering this as a vision so we can't vote it in. A feasible first step might be to involve ourselves less in religiously motivated conflict in other parts of the world?

I find it pretty sick that we were prepared to do to war against Sadam but aren't against ISIS. ISIS make Sadam look like Desmond Tutu.

I find fundamentalist islam so repugnant that I was happy with the war in Afganistan and would be happy if we did more against ISIS, the Iraq war however was a mistake. If we and the yanks had put the resources we used in Iraq into afganistan instead we would have had a much better result in Afganistan and Sadam would likely have been toppled in the arab spring anyway.

We're constantly being told by the politically correct and other leftwingers that we need mass immigration because there are jobs British people wont do and we need to import people to do those jobs.

This is one of the most racist arguments you will hear in support of immigration.

It's saying there are jobs British people wont do and really shouldn't do, they shouldn't even be encouraged to do because we will bring in people from poor countries around the world who are willing to work for nothing to provide us with cheap labour.

Then you have that other racist argument from the left that we should go around the world and cherry pick the best nurses, doctors, scientists and other professionals who have been educated in their own countries and welcome them to the UK to make sure they benefit us instead of their home countries, this is racism.

If you use either of these arguments to support immigration you are a racist.

.

Really? I think you'll find its the right that wants immigration - its cheap labour isn't it. They may huff and puff about wanting to cut the numbers coming in but at the end of the day business won't allow the UK to leave the EU.
