Nowt but a mole hill that mate.

 

You under estimate landrover

 

I own a disco 3,and used a 130 for years there ain't no way a landy would go down there,when i saw the pic's i nealy did'nt put them on as they give no real idea of how steep it was,remember my mog is on 24" wheels with big tyres,when the other guys on site saw me going down it they said "you must be mad" :wave:

Yeh, I know exactly what you mean, no perspective.

 

The last one coming out forward gives you a better idea, but from the piccys it looks small.

 

I used to set out and reccy off road courses in the Army, I was a mechanic working on landrovers and Bedford MK and TM.

 

I wrote off a TM taking it down a hill and standing it on its nose at the bottom. I also ripped the transfer box off on the knife edge at the top of the slope, severing air lines, which is why I went down the hill a little fast.

 

I have also taken a fully kitted out 22tonne recovery truck on an extreme course, ( frightening)

 

I highly recommend an extrmeme off road course if you have never done one, you'll be amazed what your mog can do, you'd need to lose the chipper though. :icon14:

 

Believe me, you wouldn't believe where a landrover will go with the right setup.

 

Mines been jacked up slightly and I run 30mm spacers and Anaconda tyres all year round

mm I use to have a MK with a Atlas 3006 that I use to use for light forwarding long distance, I also use to have an S26 6x6 with an Atlas 3008, still miss the MB 2631 AK (6x6) that replaced the S26, so much better!

 

FYI: did you know that the MoD now has MAN Kat II 4x4 6x6 & 8x8 as part of a £3.3B order (MAN ERF UK) :icon14:

My, do things move on.

 

They are awesome motors from what I have seen of them on off road challenges.

 

The old MK deserves much respect, till you take them off road and I mean "off road" you don't realise the old girls capablilties.

When I was in Cyprus with the UN we had a very antiquated Leyland recovery vehicle. Can't remember exactly what it was but it had a petrol engine and wooden floor boards in the cab. There was a little sign near the gear shift saying, "Do not exceed 30mph otherwise transmission damage will occur"

 

Say no more

 

This is the one we would of liked.
