The "kasp" £20 stainless round operating lock is pretty good for the money, more cash go for the multi lock but they all are much better with some diy 1/4 plate welded up around them so the bolt croppers cant get in, but nothing stops a determined thief.

I used to secure my lock up with a round Abus discus lock which is well regarded. The Kasp is similar. Sadly I found that I could pick the lock in under 30 secs so its now changed for a proper disc detainer Abloy. Yes I know that few people pick locks and prefer to cut them but why take the chance?

We had some decent Abus locks on our unit last year but rather than attack the lock they cut the hinge of the shackle. Oxy cut it off then just opened door. A lock is only any good if the surround it is fitted to is also strong/awkward to break through.

For anyone that has an alarm system fitted I'd highly recommend a master blaster and fog screen. Once one of those blasters goes off (inside even better) you really won't hang around for long before you damage your ears.

Buy the cheapest padlock your insurers will accept because the Caravan Utilising Nomadic travelerS have proven after years of extensive scientific research that expensive is no match for a gas axe , bolt croppers or buzz saw.
