ms880 question

I have two older MS880 that have been run on neat petrol ( dont ask) They both need barrels and piston, I tried to hone the barrels to clean them up but they are on borrowed time. I have found these after market barrel+piston kits but they are for the bolt on exhaust and mine are clip on, the question is will these fit if I buy a silencer that bolts on or are there other differences that need to be considered.

The crankcases on the 084 and 088 do not match, the 088 muffler is held on by use of two horse shoe type clamps and a spring, the 084 is held on with bolts in to the cylinder and then on to the crankcase similar to the 660/460/260 etc.

If it were mine and a cheap Chinese kit may work, I would purchase the kit and see what gives. The later muffler will not fit the earlier kit but at a guess, may be able to be drilled and bolted through but without the kit in front of me it is dificult to tell. You could purchase an earler muffler if all else fails or fit a big expansion chamber and get in to racing saws:sneaky2::lol:

Damn, I have been busted:sneaky2::lol:

Being serious, jobs like this are a PITA as nothing is standard, they can be anything from very simple to extremely time consuming when every part has to be modified to fit.

This saw just needs an inventive owner or at least someone who can see through problems!
