Been asked if i can make some Toad Stools for a Childens Nursery i look after in Liverpool .

 

This is my first attempt at Toad Stools and second attempt at Carving full stop .

 

Made them out of Beech with my old MS 250 i will smooth them off .

 

I do have a MS150 tc-e to hand too .

Look good mate. Don't mean to knock but doesnt beech not do too well in the elements

Beech lasts surprisingly well. Made a mushroom in beach 5 years back and it still survives. Have one on my yard I did a couple of years back and is as good as new

Beech was my only option has i have a pile of Coni wood and Chestnut too choose from so Beech it is .

 

Will be making some more now with flatter tops for sitting on and pointed ones will go in a wild flower bed they have .

I'm no expert but I believe conifers are full of resin? should make it last well and sweet chestnut is suposed to be excelant for lasting outside I believe.

when it comes to simple shrooms as stools etc for schools i use whatever i have handy. I dont charge for them (my game after all) but i dont oil them, i just sand them down and leave so they can paint them.
