A grab or beak on pallet forks to lift a bundle from the tidy stacked pile, then manhandle into the boiler, if 4 to 5 foot long rounds, should be "just right" for efficient manhandling.

Or billet bundles, but the sufficiently strong strapping or rope will be a significent EXTRA cost.

They won't burn wood chip like advertised as I was going to buy some in and the supplier asked what boiler I had so I said a dragon his next words were I won't supply you because of the gasification and that its been know to blow the door off and across the yard other than that they are ok

Can't fault the boiler but the company is worst company I have ever dealt with!

I've had an idea! I will chop my logs at 5 feet long and split them with a homemade machine seeing as know one makes one that splits that long. I will then stack the wood to dry and once dry I will load into boiler with this

Bucket Grabs, 4 in 1 Buckets, Toe Tip Buckets, Stone Forks, Grass Forks, Log Grabs, Skips & Rear Loader: Agricultural loader and handler attachment manufacturer | Slewtic Ltd, Kendal, Cumbria

Log grab at the bottom will go on my jcb and I think it might just fit in boiler and let go of wood so if that works then jobs sorted!

that boiler will take large timber so why split it just to dry it.:confused1:

and that boiler will eat hydraulic hoses if you are not quick enough.

I've know this "deflagration" to happen with a number of different boilers, incluning blowing the roof off a boiler room at a newly installed wood burner in a school.

What normally happens is a heap of wood smoulders in the firebox without a flame. The whole system fills up with a mixture of secondary air and pyrolysis offgas from the heat in the firebox until a newly formed bit of char gets above the auto ignition point of the gas and sparks the lot off. This is because char can burn at around 200C without a flame but the offgas needs a spark or flame to set it off unless the temperature is above about 500C.

The warning is that the chimney belches a yellow-grey smoke before the deflagration.
