You do have to keep the chain really tight on these saws if you don't it usually flings the chain off

 

Well that's the annoying thing. The chain on my saw tightens and loosens itself when ever it feels like it. Some days not at all. The next day, ten times damn it!

The chain is hardly ever at the correct tension and I have no control over it.

:laugh1: yes I know. When you turn the chain tensioner it doesn't inspire confidence it feels cheap. The only solution I can give is buy an old 200 and send it to spud. My 540 lives in the shed

That is because the "techshite " bar is de laminating . Get the older type bar fitted to 338/335 and that wont happen .
