Sent an enquiry to Warwick Council today and this is the response I got, up to 15 days is a joke.

Thank you for your email enquiry.

We have the same problem with Southampton.I gave up with the last check after waiting three weeks. Some times you can get through and speak to someone and they will tell me over the phone but i like to get something back like an email to have with me on site just in case someone asks what I'm upto and have had to show before to nosey neighbours.Apparently Southampton have laid of some of there tree division and are having a big shift around so maybe thats why who knows.

I guess we're lucky in Cornwall, a phone call to the planning dept and make a note of the enquiry reference number in the diary or job sheet.

As for nosey neighbours, it comes down to that split second judgement: are they (1) a friendly, genuinely interested person, or are they (2) the local busybody with nothing better to do than try to obstruct me going about my lawful business.

If time permits, and it's usually the first kind that wait until there is a natural break in proceedings (tea time) to make an approach, they get an open and engaging dialogue.

The second kind normally charge right into the working area and start talking while the saw is still running, they get to discover how long a saw can run on a tank of gas or, if circumstances dictate, a fairly short and direct response.

Call them and ask to speak to Robert Penlington TO for Warwick and Coventry, he's a nice enough chap and been helpful on the phone when I've spoke to him in the past :) (he does split his time between Coventry and Warwick offices though so not always there)

I know Robert and yes he is a sound guy, I didn't realise he covered Warwick.
