I like the sound of that, i have a splice on the other end of my line going to have to put a shackle in it and try that out.

this is what i meant marc........the only prob is that it doesnt work on tight crotches as you pull the pulley through the crotch. really good on rough bark though.

in the quest to make a cheaper (but still useful) RG could i use a maillon and petzl ultralegre instead of the cocoon? i know the ultalegre is an emergency pulley but for safety would this system be sweet? As long as the maillon is super tight? id be interested to see what the conclusion is. My preference is 100% the cocoon but this could be a viable cheap option.

Hey DrewB,

I'm intrigued by your homemade RG. Particularly the rubber inserted into the spliced eye. How thick is the insert? Did you have difficulty burying it? Did you need some type of lubricant (like the old cobra inserts)?

Thanks for sharing your design,

Chris

Cheers guys! weve had a few people question the webbing due to UV but weve spoke to the webbing people and they confirm at least 3 yrs if left in the sun all day. If bought from treetools, a free webbing replacement will be made available every year for the worriers! The bungy inside is a special one from Donaghys thats a bit of a bitch to insert but gets there eventually-8mm i think.

David-the 10mm is definetly splicable, if id known i would of brought some over.

No worries rich-was good to meet you too fella!
